English 11 Week of August 20, 2012

WELCOME BACK!
We have had a busy week getting to know one another and reviewing some basic material. We are now into the swing of things! Here is what we are working on for this week:

Monday:
  1. Basic background notes to prepare for The Secret Life of Bees.
    • Characterization
    • Motif
    • Biblical Allusion
    • Freytag's Pyramid
  2. Begin reading Chapter 1 of The Secret Life of Bees.
  3. Assignmnet: finish Ch. 1
Tuesday:
  1. Discuss Ch. 1
    • summary details
    • continue to complete Freytag's Pyramid
    • Discuss conflicts
  2. Complete figurative language chart
    • 5 examples for Ch. 1
  3. Assignment: read Ch. 2
Wednesday:
  1. Discuss Ch. 2

  2. Complete STAR worksheets
    • This is for the analysis of the characters
    • Keep in binder
  3. Add 5 examples of Fiugative Language for Ch. 2 to chart
  4. Assignment: read Ch. 3
